Teleconference Series for Homecare Aides: The Caring Connection
The teleconference series exclusively for homecare and hospice aides has been scheduled to continue through 2010. Each teleconference is scheduled from 3-4 p.m., the second or third Thursday of each month. Cost per agency/per phone line is just $100 for PHA members and $160 for non-members.
Each teleconference will include a powerpoint, post-questions and a free drawing for prizes. Conducted by registered nurses, the topics are varied and provide agencies with effective training at a reasonable cost. Plus, aides will have the opportunity to discuss issues with other aides across the country.

| In-Home Aides: Role in Risk Management |
Speaker: Jan Helsper, RN
Description: Risk management is way to promote safe and effective practices. By managing our risk, we can reduce the possibility of accident or harm to both the patient and agency staff.
During this workshop, we will discuss the importance of patient rights and responsibilities, negligence and abandonment, accurate documentation, agency policies, following the aide care plan and other factors that influence risk management. We will also discuss occupational risk factors such as personal safety, hazard assessment and ways to reduce potential safety issues.
